About the Parent Student Advisory Board


What is the Parent Student Advisory Board (PSAB)?


The PSAB was established to open the lines of communication between parents, students, teachers and children. The primary goal of the PSAB is to support the Miramar College Child Development Center program and its activities through active involvement in the Center's functions.

Who may become a member of the PSAB?

Any parent or student enrolled at Miramar College who is willing to uphold the policies of the PSAB may become a member. Any member may become a voting member by being enrolled in a lab class at the Child Development Center. Any staff member at the Center may become a member of the Advisory board without enrolling in a lab class.

What activities are supported by the PSAB?

Members of the PSAB support and develop the following types of activities:


  • Open House
  • Grandparents Day
  • Field Trips
  • Fundraisers
  • Mini Olympics
  • Social Events
  • Multicultural Week
  • Fall and Spring Festivals
  • PSAB Resource Library

What are the benefits to participating in the PSAB?


Participation in the PSAB will provide the following benefits:


  • Development of Leadership Experience
  • Development of a Parent and Student Support Network
  • Scholarships: PSAB awards two scholarships each semester and the Kathy Mangiamelli Scholarship annually.  Click here for more information.

When are the PSAB meetings held?


Monthly meetings are held at the Child Development Center and cover all fundraisers, special events, and other pertinent information related to the children’s program. Meetings are open to all parents, students, and staff. Childcare is provided for children enrolled at the Center.
